You are now able to apply for places in our September 2021 Reception Class.
Ordinarily, we would look forward to welcoming parents and carers into school to give you an opportunity to meet us and see our school in action – allowing you to make an informed choice of school for your child. Sadly, due to Covid restrictions, we cannot currently arrange open days and visits to school. This is a situation we will keep under constant review and, should we find ourselves in a position to allow visits, we will arrange these at a later date.
Please look at our website for information about school and should you require anything further, please contact the school office on: firstname.lastname@example.org or 01254 249462
How do you make an application for admission to our Reception class?
Admission applications begin a full year in advance of the time your child would start. Applications for admission to the school should be made on-line at www.blackburn.gov.uk/admissions between September and January of the year prior to admission. The closing date is the middle of January.

What is our admission criteria?
Note: Variation to the determined Admission Arrangements 2021 due to Covid-19
As a faith school, admission arrangements take account of attendance at places of worship. During the Covid-19 pandemic, places of public worship have at times been closed altogether and at other times not been available for public worship or access to such worship has been restricted in the interest of public health. In response to this, the Diocese in consultation with the Department for Education, has agreed a standard wording to clarify the application of the attendance requirement for schools and requested a variation to schools’ admissions arrangements from the Office of the Schools Adjudicator. This variation to the previously determined admission arrangements for 2021 has been approved. The variation has been made to categories 4 and 5 of St. Gabriel’s Admission Arrangements and the Supplementary Information Form.

As a church school we give a high priority to children of parents worshipping at a Christian Church. If you wish to apply under this faith criteria, please be aware that there is a minimum church attendance requirement for parents. For 2021 admissions this would be monthly attendance for a period of six months between 1st January and 31st December 2020. Attendance at ‘Marbles’ is included in this (St. Gabriel’s Church monthly Friday evening worship in the school hall). This has been amended for 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions – see note above and full admissions arrangements for details.
Some churches have ‘registers’ to sign to confirm attendance. Please check with your own Vicar/Minister for information.

We hold waiting lists for every class in school. If you would like your child’s name added to this list please complete and return the Record for Parental Interest for Admission form (click here). These records are updated annually. Names on the list are ranked in accordance with the original admissions arrangements for the relevant year group and not in date order of forms received.
